Fun at Barnes & Noble, reading The Magic Word and Peter and the Whimper-Whineys

This morning I read both The Magic Word and Peter and the Whimper-Whineys to an attentive group of pre-schoolers and older siblings at the Barnes & Noble in Vestal, NY.  It is always fun to read to children, and rewarding to hear them answer “Please” in the appropriate places during The Magic Word – and then having them interact with me while reading Peter and the Whimper-Whineys, resulting in the “no more whining” chant at the end of the book!  I was assisted by the regular Wednesday-morning reader, Nicole, as well as my volunteer book-holder, Kendall.  Afterwords, the children chose two of three characters on cards to color, and then make into puppets with popsicle sticks.  It was great fun for all!
