I love it when I get “kid reviews” – and I have a big smile on my face and in my heart about this one! Thanks to Rita Vetsch for sharing…
“Mice & Spiders & Webs… Oh My!” is a delightful children’s book written by Author, Sherrill S. Cannon. My day-care children love all of Sherrill’s children’s books and greatly look forward to more and more of them. They cannot get enough of her rhyming, fun and meaningful stories. Each book has an individual lesson to be learned and this one does not disappoint.
This unique and fun story tells of a little girl who could use better listening skills. A skill that all children and adults could use a little more of. It gets the children thinking about their own listening skills and assumptions in life. It is written in a unique way that gets children thinking about their fears of mice and spiders, only to find out that the twist is that it actually means something totally different! Without ruining the ending of the book, it is really neat how Sherrill tied so many ideas into one single little book. The kids shrieked and recalled how they had seen a spider or that they have had a mouse in their house. We all laughed and had so much fun reading this well written and well plotted out story. It is very unique and I have never seen a story like this one before. When the kids finally found out what the real meaning behind the mice and spiders, they were in awe. It took a second for it to sink in and I could see the wheels turning while the light bulbs were going off. Then, they exclaimed “Yes, I get it!! Wow, that is neat!”
My daycare children really connected with this lovely story and also were delighted by colorful and fun illustrations created by Kalpart. Thank you Sherrill for yet another amazing and wonderful book!!
