Lovely Review by Lorilyn Roberts for David’s ADHD

Another big thank you to Lorilyn Roberts, author and founder of the John 3:16 Marketing  Network for her review of David’s ADHD!  (See yesterday’s post for her review of the Peter and the Whimper-Whineys Coloring Book!)

“David’s ADHD by Sherill S. Cannon is an excellent read for kids who struggle with ADHD. I learned more about ADHD in this delightful kids’ picture book and how to help families cope than I thought possible. Most importantly, it’s written so that children can understand the challenges and develop useful strategies for impatience, frustration, and out-of-control impulses.

I believe David’s ADHD would be a great encouragement for everybody involved with ADHD, and it would give me hope that I could make my own child’s life better if I had a son or daughter who struggled with it.

Particular elements of  David’s ADHD that I liked included:

The rhyming lines, which make it fun for adults to read to their children.

The  colorful and warm drawings

The book follows a three-act set-up: the problem, the journey, and the resolution.

David’s ADHD  is timely and relevant.

Elementary school children would be able to read David’s ADHD.

Although I’ve personally not had to deal with ADHD, I have friends who have, and David’s ADHD has given me more empathy for how ADHD affects families and encouraging ways to approach the issue with beneficial outcomes.”

New Review for Peter and the Whimper-Whineys Coloring Book by Lorilyn Roberts

“Peter and the Whimper-Whineys Coloring Book is a wonderful book for kids who enjoy coloring and enjoy a good story. The companion book to this one I read to some children when I went on a mission trip to Nepal a few years ago. As a read to a dozen kids, they listened with rapt attention, spellbound, and made me read it to them once more before I returned back to the States.

Peter and the Whimper-Whineys Coloring Book would be an awesome addition to any parent’s library. After reading the story, children can color in the pages as they reflect on the moral presented.

I love books that tell great truths without sounding preachy, but instead, use the writer’s creativity to engage the audience. Showing truth instead of “telling” is a gift of Sherrill S. Cannon. She also has a remarkable ability to write rhyming stories for children that parents love to read – over and over to their kids.”

Another Lovely 5-Star Review for A Dime is a Sign

Six 5-Star Reviews!!!

Thank you to Lorilyn Roberts, Founder of the John 3:16 Marketing Network for this lovely 5-Star review for A Dime is a Sign:

“A Dime is a Sign is vulnerable, introspective, and a masterpiece of emotional catharsis

Touched my heart in a way I didn’t expect. I found myself reliving moments that had been buried deep in the sands of time. And that’s what good poetry does. It lingers, makes you stop, and remember – the hills, the valleys, the ebbs, the flows, the good, and the bad. A Dime is a Sign allowed me to open up my feelings to myself.

I think sometimes I’m afraid to feel. Or I’m afraid to think about difficult subjects – love, loss, failure, disappointment, broken friendships, the “what could have been’s ” – and yet, how can we appreciate God’s goodness if we don’t remember the hard places we’ve endured, those unfortunate turns that sent us screaming, crying, shouting, or pouting?

I remember one poem brought to mind some roses that I admired many years ago that were part of a rose competition. I never knew there could be so many different varieties, so many different colors, and so many spectacular blends. How could the judges choose just one winner?

I think A Dime is a Sign resurrected that memory because God has been telling me for a while – stop and see the beauty in the land of the living. Feel more, taste more, dream more, embrace life more – in all its fullness and nuances. Don’t be afraid to feel love, sadness, dejection, or anger. It’s in feeling that God restores our soul and gives us more of Himself.

In this fast-paced world in which we live, perhaps it’s just too easy to forget the beautiful sounds and rhythm of well-written poetry. We need to remember the beauty of words stunningly put together draw a portrait of our humanness. It’s our frailties, passions, hopes, and despairs that give us commonality with the world and with each other. I needed to be reminded of many things that had been put away in a crowded box of the forgotten. In feeling deeply, I know I’m still alive.

I thank Sherrill S. Cannon for taking me down a road less traveled (at least for me) and helping me to be more than I was before. Helping me to slow down and risk living at a slower pace

I’m good at building invisible walls so I stay in the middle of the road on which I travel. At least today, I ventured out along the edges where I stopped and picked up stones that were beautiful and redemptive. Beautiful poetry has a strange way of doing that.

A Dime is a Sign is vulnerable, introspective, and a masterpiece of emotional catharsis. Enjoy the read to the fullest.”

5 Stars for My Little Angel… Review by Lorilyn Roberts of the John 3:16 Network

My Little Angel – 6 Awards

My Little Angel has just won its 6th Award, a Gold Medal in the Global eBook Awards.  Here is an earlier review by Lorilyn Roberts, Founder of the John 3:16 Network, who wrote a lovely 5-Star Review for My Little Angel.  I’m very happy to share this one again…

“My favorite children’s books are rhyming books, and Sherrill Cannon once again in “My Little Angel” has created a masterpiece. The story is uplifting, the illustrations are beautiful, and it’s one of those books where you feel good all over when you finish it. You want to linger on the words, the message, and read it again and again. The story is biblical, where the young girl has an angel who protects her and helps her throughout the day. Prayer, self-worth, kindness, gratitude, and love are recurring themes and make this a wonderful book to share and read to young children. “My Little Angel” is a great addition to children’s literature and I’m sure it will win many awards in the years to come.”  … …Lorilyn Roberts
