Lovely Surprise Review for My Little Angel from Reviewer Naila Moon

Multi-Award Winner

What a lovely surprise to receive a note from Naila Moon, letting me know that she had written a review for My Little Angel…   I’m so happy to share this wonderful review!

“It has been awhile since I have read and reviewed one of Sherrill Cannon’s books, I am so glad I have for today. As with all her books, there are lessons to be learned that children as well as adults should get. This time the author approaches the subject of doing the right things. The “moral” compass is directed by the angel, Angela, who helps the girl take care of herself, her pets, and others.

As with all the books I have read from this author, her poetry is top notch and the illustrations that go with it always match well. Her illustrator is fantastic and she uses the same one throughout all of her books which brings a consistency and one I have come to expect.

In the back of the book she notes that she has hidden some of her previous books within the pages. She invites the reader to see if they can be found. This too is a consistency throughout her books and I enjoy (as kids would) looking for the hidden books. There are also questions to help the reader come to fully understand the theme of the book. The questions are well thought out and purposely directed. I know that this comes from the years of teaching the author did.

Once again this is a book that should be on the “must read” list.

5 stars from me!”

She also sent me a nice note about her review, with the lovely news that she will also be reviewing The Golden Rule!

5-Star Review for My Fingerpaint Masterpiece from Amanda Thrasher

Readers Favorite Gold Medal Childrens K-3 and also Illustrations Award!

What fun to be able to share my children’s books, first with children and later with grandchildren!  I was so delighted to receive this lovely review for My Fingerpaint Masterpiece from author and publisher Amanda Thrasher. She even shared a photo of her adorable granddaughter with me!

Here is her 5-Star Review:

“It’s plain to see My Fingerpaint Masterpiece is a beautifully illustrated picture book, narrated in the most delightful rhyming way! However, what I found while reading it to my granddaughter was the important gentle life lesson that was woven masterfully between the lines.
Many children, though they may love to express themselves with arts and crafts, can feel disappointed with one glance at the ‘masterpieces’ they’ve so carefully created. Frustrated, they set their work aside and hide their overwhelming feeling of disappointment as they compare their work to their classmates.
This book teaches children that art truly IS in the eyes of the beholder. It’s expressive and an expression of themselves, as they express their feelings, thoughts, or whatever they would like through the art that they create. Creativity via paint, materials, or words, should always be encouraged and can be a beautiful escape for children of all ages. I highly recommend this book.”

(And here is her adorable granddaughter!)

Fun to Find Sales Up for The Golden Rule

Winner of 9 Awards

It has been gratifying to discover that sales continue to climb for The Golden Rule, since its message is to think of others and be nice!  “Treat others the way you’d like to be treated”

Suggestions include “Pay it forward”, and “…thinking of others is also a part of that rule, which means thinking with head and with heart”.

I also love this beautiful meme prepared by Children’s Literary Classics:  These are all contained in the pages of this beautifully illustrated book, multi-award-winning book (thank you Kalpart Illustrations).

“No matter the color of anyone’s skin, it’s not just the outside – it’s what is within.” Literary Classics Award Winning Children’s Book Author – Sherrill S. Cannon

My CureJM Fundraiser is No Longer Active

Addie is on the Cover… Little Girl in Blue Dress!

With some sorrow, but also with understanding, I regret to inform my CureJM friends that my Fundraiser for CureJM is no longer active.

There has been no activity on the site for quite some time, and CureJM has made great strides in combatting this horrible children’s disease, so the urgency has lessened a bit…

I am so grateful to have made so many friends and kid-reviewers along the way – so many thanks to Addie ( my covergirl and inspiration), Aly, Cassie, Daisy, Tristan, Zayden, and all the others who still stay in touch with me, even though they have outgrown my books.  And that’s the positive part!!  They have outgrown them and are continuing to grow!!!  CureJM has made great strides in reducing the power of Juvenile Myositis, this incurable children’s disease – and while there still isn’t a complete cure, many many children are now in remission…

(Some, like beautiful Tanea, lost their battle way too young… and I still keep her and some other families with those who were lost in my prayers…)

So I urge all of you to continue to support the CureJM Foundation – and keep giving, as I will do also!!  We must find a Cure!!!

For any of you who wish to help CureJM through my books, please know that all of my books are available on eBay with payment through PayPal, and you can leave a message if you wish the books personalized to any child and signed by me… Please also leave mailing instructions if they are to go to another address. (I will contribute a portion of your payment to CureJM from my royalties, notifying them of your contribution.)

If you wish to purchase through amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com  please contact me directly at sherrillcannon@aol.com with confirmation of purchase, and I will also contribute a portion of my royalties for that purchase to CureJM, with a note to CureJM informing them of your contribution.  (Please note that my royalties are considerably less this way, so 50% of the purchase price is no longer possible.)

Thank you to all of you who have contributed through my Fundraiser in the past… You’re the best!!!

Sherrill

(PS – My other inactive fundraiser for imbullyfree has also been discontinued…)

My CureJM Fundraiser is Still Active – Please Take a Look

I was reminded that I hadn’t mentioned my CureJM Fundraiser site in a long time , probably since my emphasis has been on my Poetry Books lately.

Please remember that 50% of the cost of my children’s books goes to the CureJM Foundation, when purchased through my Fundraiser website at www.sbpra.com/CureJM

Juvenile Myositis is an incurable autoimmune disease, striking many young children without warning.. The CureJM Foundation has come a long way, and the results of their efforts are shown in the extended lives of many children who several years ago had a much shorter life expectancy – but the battle is not yet won.

All of my Award-Winning children’s books are available through this site.  Since many of my kid-reviewers have enjoyed the books but have now outgrown them, I’m now looking for others in the 3-9 age-range who might care to review them for me!  Just let me know at www.sherrillcannon.com
