Thinking of Finding a Publisher? Try SBPRA…

My publisher, SBPRA, just shared a letter to potential authors, which I am now sharing with anyone interested.  For the record, SBPRA published my first children’s book, Santa’s Birthday Gift, in 2009 – and has published all my subsequent 14 books which have now won 98 Awards (and counting). If anyone is interested in having a potential book evaluated, please consider this offer..

“Hi there! My name is Lynn Eddy and I am the Contract Manager at Strategic Book Publishing and Rights Agency (SBPRA). I’ve been with the company for 16 years and have seen the industry change and grow so we’ve adjusted our publishing contracts to fit what authors like you need.

We know it’s important to have your book listed on not just Amazon but also Barnes and Noble, Target, Waterstones, Chapters/Indigo, and Wal-Mart.

We know it’s important to give readers options as we’ve seen eBook sales hitting record numbers since the start of the pandemic with no slowdown in sight so we’ve started offering Kindle in contracts so authors can benefit from the most sales possible.

We know audiobooks are also hugely popular now and we have recently started an audiobook division. We are excited to bring this option to our authors in the most affordable way.

We have always had editing services, professional layout and cover designs, complementary author webpages and press releases, but we want to go the extra mile for you so that we can fill all of your publishing needs.

We know it’s important for authors to have a single point of contact throughout the publishing process and I have proudly been that person for hundreds of authors.

I’d like to look over your manuscript to see if we’d be a good fit for as your publisher. Could you please send it to me in a Word document? I will reply with a critique of your work and hopefully a contract offer.

I look forward to seeing your book!

Sincerely,

Lynn Eddy

“No matter the color of anyone’s skin, it’s not just the outside – it’s what is within.” Literary Classics Award Winning Children’s Book Author – Sherrill S. Cannon  From The Golden Rule

Previous Note from eBook Manager…

I found a previous note from my eBook Publisher about a program several of my children’s ebooks were included in, and thought I’d take a look at updated numbers.

The ebooks were part of a program donating children’s ebooks to teachers in underprivileged areas… This note was from 5 years ago, so I looked at the updated numbers today (even though I don’t think the program is still happening…).

The top ebooks shared most often, with updated numbers:

The Magic Word – 10,243, Manner-Man – 4607,  Gimme-Jimmy – 2512,

Peter and the Whimper-Whineys – 1336 and Santa’s Birthday Gift – 1472

Note received:  “Hi Sherrill.

No, you are not competing with yourself. Teachers get copies for the kids in their classes and Amazon donates Kindles for those kids. The large numbers mean that the teachers find your books to be written well enough to use in the classroom. If anything, I think it speaks to how good your books are. If you have an outlet for promoting your titles, you could use those large numbers to let people know well received your titles are in the program. I don’t know if you can use the …program name without permission, but you could say that x number of copies of your books have been donated to underprivileged school children around the world and are used in classroom settings. I think that would be OK to say without violating any copyrights. If you add up all the free give-a-way copies from the last year or so for all your titles, it should be a pretty high number.  Just a thought.”

Another 5-star Review for The Golden Rule Coloring Book by Readers Favorite

Reviewed By Emily-Jane Hills Orford for Readers’ Favorite

There’s a very special rule we should all follow. It’s really worth well more than your weight in gold, or the weight of the world, for that matter. It’s called the Golden Rule. It’s all about treating others the way you would like to be treated. In other words, be kind, caring, and considerate at all times. Help others, share what you have, and just be nice.

Sherrill S Cannon’s picture book/coloring book story, The Golden Rule Coloring Book, is a clever way to teach young readers how to be kind to others while, at the same time, entertaining them and making them think about this ‘kindness’ treasure they have within themselves. The story is told in rhyming verse as two siblings go searching for what they believe is gold and has something to do with a rule. Knowing how young people hate rules (don’t we all), this introduces the idea that there might be some good rules to consider. The story part of the book is accompanied by a colorful illustration while the next page is a coloring page for young readers to color as they wish, using colors they think will appropriately and efficiently describe what they’re feeling and their comprehension of the concept of the ‘golden rule.’

This interactive activity is continued at the end of the book where the author provides questions to make young readers think more deeply about the concepts presented in the book. Children love to color and create beautiful pictures; they also love to talk about their feelings as they work hard to learn important concepts about life. This book combines both in a comprehensive and entertaining way of teaching young people to be kind to others: “treat others the way you would like them to treat you.” What could be more simple?Another
